A quick update from the registration evening to keep the players who could not attend in the loop - The registration evening went very down well with old, new and returning players turning up to sign on for the 2018 season. Please be aware of the new 'on line' player registration system. It is now down to the player to register with his club. Details are on the 'Senior Player Self Registration' page on the drop down menu. It was announced that Joe Baker would be captain with Dan Tominey as his vice captain. Pre season training will begin under lights on Thursday 5th April at OV's ground, beginning at 7pm. It will continue there until lighter evenings allow us to start training at our own ground, The Colosseum. And finally a big thank you to Vicky Lake for arranging the 'Big Fat Quiz Night' and to Len McMain for opening his 'rugby shop'. I think it's safe to say that a good night was had by all. At yesterdays committee meeting club secretary Tony Bottomley announced that the fixture list for the 2018 East Rugby League has been announced. Cents open their league season with an away game against North Herts Crusaders at Hitchin on Saturday 5th May.
The full list of fixtures are now on the 1st Team page, under Team Info. Head coach Simba Mupamhanga also announced that pre season training would start at 7pm on Wednesday 4th April. The club are presently trying to hire a venue, for April training, with pitch side lighting, until the nights get lighter. Training will be every Wednesday in April, (at a venue to be confirmed), then the coach will re-assess the day/venue for the summer months. The registration evening for the 2018 season is being held at the clubhouse on Thursday 29th March 2018, doors opening at 7pm, and getting under way at 7.30pm. There will be a (very) short introduction from the chairman and coach followed by the registration process, which, from this season, the RFL have made electronic. We will have a couple of laptops at the clubhouse for players to use - we have been told it is a very quick and easy process. We also plan to have club training tops, club polo's and t-shirts available for players/supporters when they sign up.
Lens rugby shop will be open for business and we hope that players and supporters family and friends will also attend and take part in a fun quiz (£10 per team of three) that we will also be running to find out who is the 'Centurions Brain Of 2018'. It's all good fun, so old and new players are all welcome to come along, sign up and support your local rugby league club. All Welcome. |
