St Albans Centurions send all their best wishes to 'Silent Sam', Cents forward, Sam Bucknall who sets off to New Zealand for a year, next week.
Local boy Sam, 23, has been playing for St Albans Centurions for the last five years, and has been a major part of the Cents senior team, and always gives 100% for his club. Remember Sam, they don't just play 'kick and clap' in New Zealand anymore, they also play the better code, so if you pick up a few tips, you can bring them back to Cents when you return in 2019. St Albans Centurions U13's coach, Gary Tetlow has been told that the London League have confirmed they will run both an U14 and U13 competition next season. The Cents will have an U14s squad for 2018 and if there is a desire to recruit a squad and run an U13s side then we will consider that as well. However Gary confirms that he can't run both teams, but if there is a volunteer out there that would like to coach the U13's then Gary and the club will give them all the help we can.
If there are no volunteers for an U13s coach, we will repeat what we did last season, i.e. a mixture of U13 and U14s playing together. Gary also added that the league are running 2 coaching courses. Gary always need help, so if anyone feels they would like to take a course and him a 'qualified' hand then that would be good. The club has money to pay for/help towards the cost of the course UKCC Level 1 Award in Coaching Rugby League course, to be held at New River Stadium on Tuesday 24th & Wednesday 25th of October. The UKCC Level 1 course is 2 full days and costs £140.
