CENTS MOST NOW RE- GROUP WHEN THEY TRAVEL FOR HERTS DERBY AT HEMEL STAGS NEXT SATURDAY Great results for the St Albans Centurions this weekend with the senior squad getting their first win of the season at Brentwood, the U13's winning away at the Surrey Sharks and the clubs true athletes, the Masters, getting an 'unofficial victory against the London And Down South Masters (LADS) team. Unofficial because the masters is played for the enjoyment of the game, not the final result.
The Cents seniors got their season up and running with a 26-18 victory over Brentwood Eels in Essex. Sam Bucknell once again captained the side and was in great form, his performance only beaten by the old master Roy Dube, who made 30 tackles on the day, which is incredibly, nearly half his age!!! Next week their attention turns to the cup with a tricky away trip to Eastern 1 side Milton Keynes Wolves. Cents U13's coach Gary Tetlow said "Another decent display from the boys on Saturday against a capable Surrey Sharks side, running out winners 58-24. Tries from Fin B (3), Max H (2), Joel (2), Tom Ph (2), Fin T, George and conversions by Fin T (5), Alex, and Osita. As ever, attack isn't an issue with us, we have a very talented bunch of boys. However defence and tackling is something we need to work on, starting Thursday ! " The Masters side had a great game on Saturday, playing in torrential rain, then glorious sunshine. Some fine physiques and skills were on display as both teams enthralled the crowd with their prowess, and at the end on the game, again impressed the crowd with their record demolition of a ten gallon barrel of beer. Photos from the Masters game (below) can also be viewed on out photo site. St Albans Centurions U13's were victorious against the travelling Southend Spartans U13's last Wednesday evening at the Colosseum. Coach Gary Tetlow wants to thank Southend for travelling to St Albans for the evening fixture and was very pleased with the performance of all involved
This weekend saw the points go to St Ives. It was a cliche'd game of two halves and Cents will no doubt think that the game was thrown away in the second half. Final score 34-39, pictures are now live on the photo site and match report will follow.
