The registration evening for the 2019 season is being held at the clubhouse on Thursday 18th April 2019, doors opening at 7pm, and getting under way at 7.30pm. There will be a (very) short introduction from the chairman and coach followed by the registration process, which is now electronic. We will have a couple of helpers available at the clubhouse to advise players how to register - it is a very quick and easy process. We also plan to have club polo's and t-shirts available for players/supporters when they sign up.
After discussion with the players, this years signing on fee will be £125 for senior players, £85 for students and £30 (or £50 plus club polo shirt) for social members. The registration money goes towards player insurance, after match food, referee, ground maintenance/hire, kit cleaning and physio/first aid. Lens rugby shop will be open for business. We hope that players and supporters family and friends will also attend and take part in our fun 'pub quiz' (£10 per team of three) that we will also be running to find out who is the 'Centurions Brain Of 2019'. It's all good fun, so old and new players are all welcome to come along, sign up and support your local rugby league club. All Welcome. Just received the following message from St Albans Centurions Masters team manager Mick O'Shea :-
" I have been asked to field a side against South London Silverbacks on April 6th with an 11am ko at the London Skolars ground, followed by beers and watching the Toronto Wolfpack v London Skolars game afterwards. I only need 13 players. I am one of that number so now only need 12. We will be the Rest of the World XIII so you get an international cap just for playing! If you fancy a social run out then get in contact with me, Mick O'Shea email: [email protected] mob. 07989898842 " See our drop down page for Masters Rugby under 'team info/fixtures ' above. Bedford Tigers A, Brentwood Eels, Hemel Stags A, North Herts Knights, St Albans Centurions, St Ives Roosters and Southend Sharks will compete in one competition for the first time. After the regular season rounds the top 4 and bottom 3 will split for a round Robin playoff system before the top 2 clubs face off in the respective Grand Finals for the Championship and the Shield. The East RL Cup and 9's will return for the 7th season too. The competition is still looking to help form new clubs and will hold a series of development 9s festivals in an attempt to drive interest and opportunities for new clubs to form and play some rugby league! St Albans Centurions physio Len McMain and his wife Mary have been over in Australia for the last few weeks on their holidays, and as well as seeing lots of the sights that this great country is famous for - and adding to his rugby league shirt collection - and helping out at the famous Cabramatta International Nines competition - Len wanted to do one more thing - catch up with Cents legend Shane Rampling. Len says that Cents player/coach Shane is still in good shape and still talks fondly of St Albans. They had some catching up to do as they recalled winning 'the tripple' in 2007 and 2010.
