Cents Masters –v- London And Down South Masters (LADS)
The Centurions masters (Over 35’s) were in action before the seniors game, with a great display of rugby league played in the true spirit of the game. The teams, ranging in age from 35 to 65, play in different coloured shorts, each colour expressing the age of the player and how he is allowed to be tackled. Even though the hair may be greying, or in some cases none existent, you could still see the skills and enjoyment of the game shining through. At the end of what was an enjoyable, free flowing game, both teams retired to pitch side to partake in a barrel of specially brewed “Centurions XX” beer, brewed to commemorate the Centurions 20th anniversary year. Cents chairman Brian Parker said “We have got to thank Mick O’Shea, our masters co-ordinator, for arranging all of this. He did remarkably well.” Mick O’Shea added, “Masters is strictly a social version of the game of rugby league and the rules are slightly modified to cater for the older player. There are no winners, no losers, no champions and no cup finals. Masters is all about the spirit of the game and enjoying yourself.” Comments are closed.
