St Albans Centurions have been given the great honour to represent Southern Rugby League in a friendly game against the British Army on Saturday 25th June to celebrate Armed Forces Day. Cents chairman Brian Parker said "The team have a 'spare' weekend on that date and are looking forward to travelling up to Crosfields Rugby Club in Warrington to take on the Army. We have played them several times over the last few years and they are a good bunch of lads. We hope to do The Cents, and southern rugby league, proud." The hosts of the event, Crosfields RLFC have said that this festival, now in its seventh year, has without doubt become the biggest amateur Rugby League event in the UK with more than 5000 people attending in 2015. There will be army and rugby league stalls, b-b-q's and food outlets, and of course, beer tents and much, much more. Crosfields are also famous for their after match hospitality and celebrations, which have become legendary affairs; from Fijian hymns where you can hear a pin drop to HaKa War cries, to the forging of inter club friendships that will last a lifetime. More details about this event will be made nearer the time, so get that date marked in your diary. Comments are closed.
