Match officials - whether we praise them or criticise them, we all know that without them there would not be competitive games of rugby league. Over the last few seasons the referee numbers have gone down. These days it is not unusual to have a referee officiate over two or three games on a Saturday, and now the Southern Rugby League Referees Society want to know if there is anyone out there who would like to have a go at picking up the whistle, either regularly or sporadically. There is a course coming up in Feltham, on the 6th June. The address is Feltham College, Browells Lane, Feltham, TW13 7EF. www.wlklms.com/rllecom – is the link pointing you to the pre-course laws element and people would need to do this before they attend. http://www.rugby-league.com/get_involved/match_officials/becoming_a_match_official – is the page where you can express your interest and join the course. So if you are an ex player, or just want to get involved in a sport where the man in the middle is still treated with respect by the players, then please consider becoming a rugby league referee.
